FACTS:

Current membership is 79% male and 20% female; 55% White / 27% Black /
18% Latino / 6% either Cape Verdean, Asian, Native American/Alaskan
Native, Haitian, Brazilian, Portuguese or "Other."
>
75% of the Center's members are low income and/or receiving
government assistance.
>
The Center's fastest growing population is women, who account
for 25% of the Center's new membership.
>
Then and today, all programs and services are provided to
members of the BLC absolutely free. The only criterion for
membership is the verification of HIV Status.

The BLC's population includes HIV Positive individuals of
all ages, genders, transmission categories, ethnic backgrounds
residing in the Greater Boston area, with some members coming
as far as Southern New Hampshire and Connecticut.

With an active membership of over 2,400, the BLC is the
largest peer-led organization for people with HIV/AIDS in
New England.
>
There are over 500 volunteers that donate their time and
talents each year to teach classes and workshops, provide
holistic therapies, prepare and serve meals, or work on
special events committees.
